    Great cage
Great quality. Plenty of room for our Syrian hamster. Didn’t take my husband long to assemble it. Good value. We did stain ours with a non toxic/ animal safe stain.

    Read The Instructions!!!
Talked to the carpenter who assembled it, and he asked me if I wanted him to remove the film off the viewing panels for me too? He had the instructions so I was unaware that a film had to be removed … thus the change in my review. Beautiful workmanship!

    Hamster cage
Loved it when I put it together. But the hamster literally chewed a hole through it in not even a week!!!!

    Don’t recommend unless you’re on a budget
The cage itself is cute don’t get me wrong but the wood came cracked and splintery already, I was missing screws to put it together, the cellophane that covered the plastic on the top two little windows was extremely difficult for me to get off all the way.If you’re already spending 90 bucks on the cage I recommend finding one that’s a few bucks more but way better quality.

    Good choice for hamster cage
We are happy with the size and quality. My 14 year old put it together easily. It looks nice and the hamster has plenty of room to roam.

    Cheaply made
I expected more for the price. It seems cheaply made and was weird to put together because the screws weren’t quite right. Now the hamster is chewing through it.

Super nice materials! Benefits from a few adjustments. Get creative!
I have been on a whole journey with this cage! First, I will say that the wood is solid, good quality, and well cut. I did sand it a little on all the edges, and I would recommend doing at least that much. For my purposes, hoping to use this for a netherland dwarf rabbit (a little guy, right around 2 pounds), I wanted to really protect the wood. So I coated all the interior surfaces in waterproofing lacquer. Then I had some left over, so I lacquered all the sides.Next, I realized that the drawer is really just a drawer. So, if you use it as it comes, you will need to pull your critter and all his accessories out BEFORE you yank on that drawer. Also, as it is, the critter will hang out in the drawer most of the time. That’s not a lot of clearance from a potentially wet situation. So I looked around and thought about what to do. I ended up using part of an old dog crate that we literally found at the dump. I disassembled the cage. This went fine; the cage comes with well-sized screws and nicely done pilot holes in all the right places with good alignment. Then I measured three inches up from the drawer floor all around the inside and drilled my own holes. I drilled them pretty big, both because I was trying to fit something tricky and because I feel the cage can benefit from even more ventilation. Then I put the grid from the dog crate in and screwed all the sides back together. Voila! A floor support on top of the drawer. Now, my rabbit can live on a perforated floor and I can add some absorbent material in the drawer. When it’s time for a change, I don’t have to disturb the little guy or remove all his things (food dish, box that he climbs on, etc.)So far so good! If I’m still feeling crafty, I will drill four more holes — two in each side — to install some handles. The assembled cage is a bit heavy, but still a size that a normal adult could move. It’s just super awkward right now because there is nothing to hold onto. Some sturdy handles, maybe like those C-shaped low-end kitchen cabinet handles will help a lot. For a rabbit (and other small mammals), I’d recommend using something that won’t get eaten. No sisal. Sisal is delicious to rabbits.Even with the room for improvement, I believe this cage listing is worth five stars because it’s just as nice as it looks in the photos. The materials are very nice. The instructions are clear and it comes with everything you need to assemble it as it’s advertised. I just think a few modifications will make it even better.
