These minnows are way different than the other brands. They last a while in a container with the little moisture packet. My cat absolutely loves them. There’s different sizes of minnows opposed to other brands with the same sizes. I can easily tell there is different species in every bag i’ve purchased. They are so much more affordable than other brands, stay fresh longer, are a great healthy treat option, and are nice and crunchy for my cat to easily chew. Love this product, I’ve had it on authorship for 2 months now. It takes my cat about a month to go through an entire bag! I used to buy a couple of other brands every week. She simply runs through minnows like they’re candy. It was getting very expensive, but this brand is way more cost effective.

Great for isopods
So my use is a little unusual. I use these along with carrots for my isopod colonies. They have exploded to the point I’m overrun lol. A good problem to have. Highly recommend for bugs.

Weird Smell, Cats Won’t Eat it, Save Yourself the Money
Not sure if it’s my batch, not sure if it’s my taste buds, but I opened these up and they smell like gasoline. There is yellow crust on them–which is fine, could be oil–but the smell makes me skeptical. What’s weird is that the inside smells more normal, it’s just the outside that smells weird? So not sure if perhaps something about the freeze drying process was not done well to make them like this.My cats would not eat them without some tomfoolery (masking the scent). They go crazy for other minnows, but I put these out for like days, or tried to offer these amzey minnows to them where/when they would normally get treats (going into the carrier) and they will not eat them. They both like food and are not generally picky, which just gives me all sorts of red flags about these minnows.I would also like to call attention to the fact that I’ve never seen these carried by any large pet store (PetSmart, PetCo, Chewy), which is probably an indicator that this is just bottom of the barrel feed that household pets might not find quality.I saw a lot of positive reviews on this, so I bought them. But now, I’m wondering where those positive reviews came from. I also have no idea if perhaps I’m insane, or if my cats are actually picky, but I can’t return these, and I don’t know how to get a refund. All in all a waste of money in my attempt to be frugal and save some more on minnows. Save your $12 or $14 dollars on churu or something instead and don’t be foolish like me.

Great product
My dogs are obsessed with these treats. They are small enough that the bag will last a while. They can be pretty sharp so you will want to be careful grabbing a handful out of the bag. I’ve been poked by a couple pieces and it was unpleasant but not life altering or anything crazy like that. My dogs have never appeared to have any issues with being poked. It’s always funny showing people these treats. They get a little wigged out when they see that it’s an ENTIRE fish. I haven’t been able to convince anyone to try one yet lol.

Overseas product , splintery, not so healthy
I’ve purchased these several times, and my turtles eat them even though they are splintery. I wouldn’t feed these to dogs or cats. For that reason, I’ll give them 3 stars. The price for the amount is good, but I just found out that their origin is Asia, not the USA. I’ve seen videos of the farmed fish ponds, yuck! I’m going to stick with wild-caught USA. Milos & Ottis looks like a good one.

Kind of like if pin cushions were dog treats
I bought PureBites minnows frequently a couple of years ago. My dog at the time had a brain tumor which made her gain weight easily, but she needed a lot of treats for physical therapy. Minnows are very low-calorie. I broke them up into smaller pieces for more treats out of one minnow.These minnows eventually, slowly, disappeared from stores. My dog has since passed away, but I wanted the dog I take care of now to try freeze dried minnow. Now why do I bring this up?Because I got so. Many. Splinters. From these minnows. I never expected to get splinters from a fish. I even got a splinter jammed under my fingernail from one! I became averse to using them because of how often they left me picking splinters out from under my skin.It was really unexpected. I had never gotten a splinter from any other brand of freeze dried minnows, even when ripping them up into tiny pieces. These guys would jab me even if I tried to give them as whole fish or chopped them up with a knife or scissors.Great value for the price. Tons of small, healthy, songle-ingredient, non-perishable treats for a comparatively cheap amount. It was kind of unfortunate for me, because it meant even more splinters from such a large amount of minnows. I can’t comment on smell because I tend to not care with dog treats; it’s for the dog’s enjoyment, not mine, and dogs like smelly things. I don’t recall a particularly powerful odor, even for fish.The dog was also ambivalent about the treats. She’s a dog, so she ate them gladly, but they weren’t really “jackpot” level treats.The main reason I typed out this review was because it was just so weird how many splinters I got from these.

I’ve been buying these for my dog & cat for a couple years now and they’re honestly the best brand I’ve ever bought of freeze dried minnows! Hence why I continue to buy them! Well now I’ve got my boyfriends GSD hooked too 😂 she goes over and sits at their food/treat shelf and noses at where they are to ask for some it cracks me up. Well anyways after all the years of buying these today was the first time I found a random little shrimp in there 🤣 also hilarious to me haha poor little guy got caught with em or something maybe? No worries on my end but maybe if anyone’s dog has a shellfish allergy just keep an eye out! I’ve worked in pet care a long time and have come across some “weird” food allergies in dogs so just wanted to share in case of that, otherwise these are a perfect treat or addition/topper to a meal for you pups or kitties, all our fur babies lose their minds over these little fishies as I call em to the pups
