Choose the Right Size: When selecting a size, consider not only your dog’s neck circumference but also the cone’s width and the shield’s height to ensure full coverage of the wound. The dog cone alternative should extend past your dog’s mouth to prevent them from biting the guard or reaching the wound. This inflatable dog cone may not be suitable for dogs with longer noses, legs, or tails, or more flexible breeds (such as Greyhounds)
Helps the Healing Process: While wearing a dog cone collar may affect your dog’s comfort, the dog inflatable neck collar offers a more pleasant experience compared to traditional plastic cones. Its rounded design creates a barrier that prevents your pet from aggravating his/her wounds. Similar to an inflatable neck pillow, it doesn’t block your dog’s vision and minimizes discomfort. Plus, if your dog bumps into something, there’s no frightening noise, making the healing process less stressful
Clear Shield for Extra Protection: The detachable shield helps prevent your dog from reaching certain areas and can be easily attached or removed via a zipper as needed. Avoid pulling the zipper on the protective guard forcefully to prevent breaking and ensure its longevity. For optimal use, supervise your dog while wearing the dog recovery collar. Continuous monitoring is essential to prevent your dog from biting or damaging the shield
Keep the Cone Secure on Your Dog: Dogs may try to remove the inflatable dog collar due to discomfort, unfamiliarity, or improper fit. To minimize this, ensure you select the correct size. Insert your dog’s collar into the loops of the inflatable dog collars for after surgery and fasten the hook-and-loop closures securely. Additionally, perform desensitization training before use to help your dog adjust more comfortably
Ensure Proper Inflation: Trim your dog’s nails to prevent scratching that could puncture the inflatable cone collar for dogs. The inflation valve has a small cutout—pinch the base of the valve to open it and allow air to enter. While pinching, use a sele-purchased pump or your mouth to inflate the dog donut collar. You can adjust the firmness by varying the inflation to avoid excess pressure on the seams, which could cause leakage. Once inflated, quickly cover the valve with the cap to seal it

Comfortable and actually does the job 🐕
This cone is much more comfortable than the traditional plastic ones. My dog tolerated it really well and could still eat, sleep, and move around without issue 💤What I really like is that it provides about an extra 4 inches of coverage, which actually prevents him from reaching the irritated area. It feels sturdy but still soft enough to be comfortable.Small downside: Sizing is important, so make sure to measure before ordering.Overall, this is a great alternative to hard cones and worked perfectly for us 👍🐾

An already tough day got a little easier to navigate (for everyone)!
This product is fabulous, highly recommend. We came home from the vet with the old school “cone of shame (the images say it all!).” This wonderful upgrade arrived next-day from Amazon and not a moment too soon.Fits snugly, but comfortably. The dual attachment of the interlocking strap (outside) with the inner strip of Velcro, makes for a quick and easy installation, reducing the fuss-time working around a dog that’s already not thrilled with life at the moment. The donut alone seems to be all we need so far, but the shorter, clear visor is clearly a major upgrade from the disorienting, traditional plastic cone! So much easier for our puppy to see and navigate in tight spaces, and not get snagged on furniture, walls, or people’s legs. Lastly, the removable and washable outer sleeve is a nice plus as well.

    Lasted about 2 hours.
I ordered this for my Rottweiler after his neuter as I was worried about him being a bull in a china shop with the old school plastic cone. He has severe kennel anxiety and I didn’t want to stress him out further by putting the hard cone in him and forcing him to be in the kennel post-surgery.I ordered this donut and it said it was a soft material and it had a detachable shield (cone) which was not nearly as long as the plastic one the vet provided. My initial assessment of this product was great. The shield was soft, and seems very durable. It was flexible and it blocked him for reaching the incision site without being completely obtrusive to his range of motion or ability to lay down down comfortably. In addition, the donut was incredibly soft, and it looked very adorable on him.I inflated the donut and was careful not to over inflate or under inflate. I measured his neck prior to ordering and the donut sizing was perfect. It fit him well and wasn’t loose enough to get out of nor was he swimming in it. The measurements provided were spot on.He didn’t even seem to mind wearing. The issue I have with it is that after two hours after putting it in him, while he was snoring on the carpet, I noticed part of it looked flat. Upon looking at it further, the entire thing was deflating. I double checked the floor and confirmed that there was nothing that it got caught on or poked by. Given that he was sound asleep – I have no idea why it deflated. I could hear an air leak, and therefor did not attempt blow it back up.It is possible the item was simply fault but I have no idea why it sprung a leak. He hadn’t been messing with it and immediately out of the box the visual inspection did not show any issues with the product.So.. for those reasons I gave it one star. It was not a good value, did not serve the intended purpose, and I would not recommend this product.

It works but needs modification for a big dog with a long nose.
It’s a good idea for a collar and a much better alternative to the standard type cones that the vet uses. However, it does have a limitation, at least for our Great Pyrenees. I put the collar on him after we got home from the vet following his groin surgery. I attached the zippered plastic guard to the inflatable donut hoping it would discourage him from licking his stitches. It worked for about 10 minutes until he realized that his nose was long enough to reach his groin and the clear plastic guard just folded over and collapsed under the weight of his head. I didn’t have time to explore a better option to modify it so I ended up cutting in half some 10″ hard plastic straws (the plastic guard is about 5″ tall) that we had in the kitchen drawer. I then placed them vertically about 2″ apart on the plastic guard and used clear packing tape (to maintain his visibility) to hold them in place. I taped them all the way around the outside of the plastic guard as “ribs” and put it back on his neck. It prevented him from reaching the stitches and the inflatable donut was much more comfortable and calming than the standard cones. It worked great for the 12 days until he had the stitches removed. Just a thought, anything clear with a small diameter would work, just to allow full visibility for your dog. They seem to panic a bit more when their visibility is reduced or obstructed. Tooth picks are too fragile but I suppose popsicle sticks could work if that’s all you had on hand. Good luck.

    Great, but used
Works great. Easy to fill and attach around neck. Zips fast and easy too. My only issue is they sent me a used one. The plastic ring is clearly old, holes, scratches, smudges and dirt all over it.

Very comfortable and efficiently gets the job done
Any dog owner knows that having surgery, a hot spot in a bad place, or one of the many other things that can happen can be tough to deal with. My dog was recently neutered and wanted to lick the area so badly. I tried the basic plastic cone, but he kept bumping into things, it gathered bacteria and broke easily. I was hesitant to try an inflatable cone, thinking he would chew right through it. But honestly, it was the best decision that I could have made for him. The inflatable cone was just out of reach. No matter how he swiveled and moved, he could not quite reach it. And this carries over to his sensitive area as well. The cone is soft and acted as a little cushion, or pillow. I could tell he was much more comfortable wearing this style. My dog is 65lbs and the large size fit him perfectly. It also has an adjustable strap to make it tighter or looser around the neck. I felt better knowing he was secure and safe, not to mention more comfortable once we made the switch. I called him the little Blueberry because he was so darn cute running around. I would definitely recommend this to any dog parent as a better alternative to the classic cone style.

This was a life saver ! My Corgi hated the cone and would not want to eat , walk , play , he was like a zombie .The product is very well made and the main difference between this product and others is the plastic shield works really well at giving that extra shielded protection so he can’t reach his back paw to lick . He has surgery on his paw to cut a nail and needed something that he could function in and that would also be 100 % effective .It’s also very comfortable for him as he uses it as a pillow and head rest lying down and he sleeps with it very well .Material is soft . I would strongly recommend you try it if you’re looking for an alternative to the cone .

Correspondant exactement à mes besoins. Mon chien est vraiment à l’aise lors de l’utilisation. Beaucoup moins encombrant que le cône traditionnel

Seems like a decent enough made thing. But you can’t inflate it: therefore, it’s useless.

How about making the plastic cover available without having to purchase a whole new one

After testing five different dog cones (flexible, hard, plastic, fabric etc etc…), I believe, for now, that this one is the best option for a miniature dachshund — but with a few important caveats.Specifically, it works well IF and only IF the Anti-Licking Guard Shield is in place and the donut is fully inflated (it deflates after a while). When properly inflated and positioned, the shield does its job well. However, if the shield shifts even a little bit, the long mini dachshund with a long back and snout may get to the wound and start licking again. I found this to be a huge problem, as the dog is very determined. One moment of distraction, and he’s back at it. Without ensuring the opening of the shield stays out of reach, my dachshund (a long, small dog) was able to reach and lick his surgery wound, ultimately pulling off the scab.I had to attach a collar to a harness (as seen in the photo) to make sure the shield opening was not reachable. As mentioned, to keep the shield properly positioned and prevent the dog from pulling everything off, we used a “Collar & Harness Solution” – we ended up adding a collar to the donut (it is easily done) , then attaching it to a harness. This was the only way I could ensure that the opening of the shield stayed on his back, keeping him from accessing the wound. Without this added security, my dachshund could wiggle his way out of the donut 9as he did) and/or make it through the opening of the shield, getting back to licking his wound. In Short:After the first day of use, it seems like this inflated donut with a shield is the best and the most effective solution I’ve found. In my view, it’s a good option for dachshunds, which is a difficult task, as long as the following measures are observed:It is vital to keep the Anti-Licking Guard Shield in place at all times. The shield opening must stay out of reach of the dog’s snout — on the back, for example. To ensure this, we added a collar to the donut AND made sure the dog’s harness was on so that we could attach the donut to it, preventing the opening from shifting around. Keeping the opening of the shield away from the long snout (which easily brings the opening to the front) was crucial. We removed just the shield for eating/drinking. The dachshund is a bit too short to manage eating or drinking with the shield in place, so it has to come off during mealtime. It’s a bit of a hassle, but at least he’s not dragging the cone around the house like with the other models I’ve tried.PS: It get a bit hot around the are…The dog clearly got uncomfortable with this – the “velvet like ” fabric doesn’t help.It would be good to have an option with a cooling fabric or some less warming one.
