How often do I need to change the replacement filter and sponge filter?

This cat waterer is very well built and works very well. Great product. I have two cats. One will use the fountain and the other cat just drinks from the platform. It appears to filter the water very well and it always looks clean. It uses a 2 part filtering system. One part is the multilayer charcoal filter and the 2nd one is just a very coarse sponge to keep any debris from clogging the pump. The only bad thing I have to say about this is that when I ordered new filters from Amazon, based on their recommendation, The secondary filter is not the the same at all as the original. The original is a very small coarse rectangular filter and the ones they sent me was a large fine foam ring filter. In order to even think about using these, I woukd have to cut them into rectangular pieces. And the foam is so fine that I am afraid it will not allow the water to flow through itI have scoured the Amazon site trying to find some of the correct coarse filters with no luck.

Reasonable cost compared to name brand, either the expensive or less expensive only last about 7 days. Been pleased so far with the product, will purchase again.

I get extra milage by soaking the filters in cleaning vinegar solution and rinsing the dickens out of them. I also cut the sponge filter in quarters and secure one quarter over the intake with a rubber band. I really like the sponge. It’s better than the foam filters for fish tanks that one of my other fountains uses.

We love our cats’ water fountain so much, the 12 pack of filters is great as it’s a years supply (since they recommend changing it monthly). We clean it out and give them fresh water inbetween filter switches and also rinse off the filters if we notice they’re getting slimey. Great value for the money!

Great but came with outdated or incorrect assembly instructions. The parts included did not match the instructions. I was able to force it together though, and now it works fine.

its amazing how much they filter out of just ordinary tap water. Do remember to check them and once you establish how long they are effective put a note in the diary to change them at future dates. Your cat will thank you for it.
