Works great for my tortoise, it’s very hot, it has a clip that comes with it so you can move it anywhere that you want to clip that lamp. Very bright , simple easy use. Durable. It’s small but works. Decent price for the product

Great for lizards and salamanders
We recently got salamanders and lizards, so I was doing alot of research on do and don’ts for these little guys. We have smaller plastic cages for them so I wanted something that didn’t produce too much heat, but would be enough to keep the critters compfy.This clip on light came with a 50watt bulb and roughly a 6 foot cord with a flip switch to turn light on and off. The price point was amazing compared to other sets, which was the reason I purchased this one.The packaging was secure. Pieces were wrapped, ensuring nothing moved or got broken in transit. The bulb came in a boxwrapped with bubble wrap, also placed in the main package.The light unit is sturdy plastic and the clip holds tightly to the desk. It can spread and clamp onto something about 1.5-2, but will still grip down to half an inch. Take the light bulb out of the box and screw it into the light and the unit is ready to go! The bulb can be turned 360° around, and the top can be tilted about 60°. Great feature for finding the right spot to spread the heat.One warning…keep the heat lamp at least 6 inches from the cage. I wasn’t anticipating the bulb producing heat so quickly, but i still learning. I would suggest making sure the lamp is at least 6 inches from the area you are trying to warm. I made the mistake of placing the unit about 3 inches away and ended up melting the top corner of the cage…thankfully I continued to check and was able to save it in time! Also, the light is like a warm white color you’d see in Christmas lights, but it’s very bright! Do not place light facing you…it’ll blind you temporarily.I reviewed 20, 30 and 50 watt bulbs, in addition to multiple light features. However, i ultimately believe this unit was the best bang for the buck, came with everything (which others came with light unit and bulb was purchased separately). The decision to go with the 50watt bulb has provided our salamanders and lizards with happy and warm terrariums.Would highly suggest!

Short lived and hazzardous, no warranty contact info
Purchased in July, dead in November. I bought this and used a 50W halogen bulb from Luckyherp (purchased on amazon.) Lamp was well ventilated and was set to come on 3hrs after sunup and 2 hrs before sundown – controlled by a smart plug. Today I went to feed and decided to check the lamp. It would not turn on. I unscrewed the bulb, and the center contact of the bulb was corroded and degraded. I tried replacing the bulb, but it still would not turn on. I took apart the socket and the jacket of the wires inside was melted. One of the wires had come away from the screw terminal on the back of the ceramic socket. And both screw terminals were corroded and degraded. I think the problem is that the mechanical strain relief for the cable consisted of only a zip tie on the inside of the socket. This only gave relief to force that pulled on the cable, nothing preventing the wires from flexing up into the back side of the socket.If you have one of these lamps already, or plan to take the risk, then I would recommend adding a zip tie (or other such clamping mechanism) around the cable on the outside at the back of the lamp to relieve force pushing on the wires.It was inexpensive and had the inline switch (which I like) and I thought it must be designed for safety. But after my experience I would not recommend this lamp. I’m lucky this didn’t start a fire. The lamp is supposed to have a one-year warranty, but there is no contact info for replacement. I could find nothing in the paperwork that came with the lamp and nothing in the amazon warranty/product-support pages.

Great heat level
Our turtle loves this light. The lightbulb has outlasted the expected amount of time. It provides an adequate amount of daytime light. Just remember that heat is also felt if you touch the lamp.

I used this light for my turtle daily for a heat lamp and it only worked for two months. Good products but not very long lasting.

Worked for the price for a while
For the cost it worked for 5 months but might be a fire hazard. Bought on July and lasted to December on every day. Failed to turn on for my son. Took it apart after I had it arc when I wiggled the wires. The bulb base is porcelain type but the connectors in it melted. Wires looked to have broke out of a tight contact so it wasn’t from arcing over time.
