Good Size for the Price, but Definitely Needs Some DIY Know-How
For the price, this is a fairly large and spacious wooden hamster cage, and the instructions are surprisingly well put together. Assembly can be smooth, but only if you’re comfortable with tools.As someone who dabbles in woodworking, I noticed several areas where the design could be improved. The alignment dowels are pretty wobbly, and the holes they fit into were drilled a bit too large, which causes shifting during assembly. The wood screws also don’t have pilot holes on the panels they’re meant to go into, making it easy for things to misalign or split. This is an issue across most of the cage.The wood itself feels like balsa or a similarly soft wood, easy to work with, but also very easy to crack if you’re not careful. On top of that, the top hook latch is extremely cheap aluminum and feels flimsy and unreliable.Another issue is the pull-out drawer on the bottom. There’s nothing to actually hold it closed, so if you have a clever pet that realizes it can push the tray open, it absolutely will. I ended up installing a small barrel latch to fix that problem, and it works perfectly now, but it shouldn’t be something you have to add.Overall, if you don’t have a drill, socket set, or at least some basic DIY experience, I wouldn’t recommend this cage. But if you’re handy and willing to reinforce a few things, it’s a good size and can work well once properly secured.Great value, but definitely not beginner-friendly.

Good value for money
Solid 4! Good value for money. Honestly, it was easy to build. Probably took 30 mins. I did add little pilot holes for each of the screws to avoid cracking. The latch is a bit average but it doesn’t really need a latch! It’s pretty cheap wood but it’s fit for purpose. I can’t see where a hamster would escape but let’s see. I bought this because it was cheap and it had the cleaning draw at the bottom which seems to work fine.

Really Cute Wooden Habitat With Plexi Windows and Pull Out Tray With Plastic Liner
This wooden small animal habitat is very nicely constructed and looks really cute. The wood is lightweight but fairly thick (maybe pine?) with good, solid joins. The front and the side panels are preassembled with a lightweight plexiglass window for good visibility inside the habitat. The top is equipped with a hinged lid and grated panel for good airflow. The bottom slide in/out tray is lined with a plastic tray/liner to make cleaning easier.I love the platforms and the hut that are premade and pre-drilled because they provide additional floorspace as well as added entertainment for a small animal. Construction was easy and pretty quick. Everything fit together without any problems or misalignments.If used with animals that gnaw, the platforms will probably eventually need replacing, but they do seem thick enough to hold up for a long time.
