I ordered this wire dog barrier to install in a Dodge Ram to prevent our squiggly little Shih Tzu mix dog from jumping into the front seat. While I was able to get the length to work, because of the sloped back of the seats the rack would extend out on an angle, leaving a gap large enough below that he would jump to the floor and try to jump through the gap. It’s not a large gap, but he’s determined, and I’m worried he would hurt himself trying.As seen in my photos, I made a few attempts to install to try and not have a gap at the bottom and wanted to show the different arrangements to hopefully save someone time (please ignore our messy truck).Attempt 1 – Added the long folding piece horizontal which left a large gap below.Attempt 2 – Same as attempt 1, but moved it up higher, but an even larger gap.I wanted to add the small pieces vertically centred at the bottom, but you can’t overlap a small piece with the folded main piece because the squares don’t line up to add the second clip. Both sides of the clips have grooves that fit onto the slim bars, so they need to line up to screw the pieces together.Attempt 3 – Same as attempt 2, but added the 2 small pieces horizontally, but this really only gained me 3 squares of height because I had to overlap the pieces by at least 3 squares to be able to install the clips.Attempt 4 – Same as attempt 3 but moved the entire arrangement down.Attempt 5 – Started over, and put the long folding piece vertically, and added a small piece vertically on each side. But to get the width I needed; I couldn’t overlap the pieces by enough to be able to add 2 clips, so the middle section sagged down. Not a huge issue as I think it wouldn’t fall down. But I still had a gap enough at the bottom that I think would encourage my dog to at least try to get through.I finally gave up trying to make it work so that the bottom gap was filled. It wasn’t the fault of the product, but rather the sloped seats. I think most of these attempts would have worked for larger dogs, but not my small jumpy dog. I plan to use the final attempt 5 and stuff a blanket into the gaps.I saw photos of another reviewer who installed in the back seats of an SUV, so I’ll be installing the second set in our SUV with back captain chairs using that same arrangement.Quality wise, it’s very well constructed. The surfaces are smooth, with no rough or chipped areas. The hinges on the folding pieces open and close smoothly, and overall the set looks very durable.Overall, this is a great set, and as seen in my photos, can be installed in a variety of arrangements. It’s just finding the best one for your vehicle. This is a great value set since it comes with 2 sets.

The setup is perfect for allowing you to barrier off the backseat to make traveling with your dogs that much safer.When I order this set, it was more for the back cargo area and the backseat that I wanted to secure. Our dog has a nice secure space in the back seat already. He wears a safety seat belt when we are driving. However, when we are not in motion, we release the belt to give him more freedom to move around and spin around in place, etc. My concern was when we open the back hatch, he has the chance to jump the backseat and get out.With is wire mesh divider, I do not worry about this happening. I also do not give up my sightline out of the back window.The added benefit is that the divider will also not allow items from the cargo area (trunk) leave that space. This prevents items falling into the dogs space in the back seat. Which is an added safety bonus, I had not previously had a concern about.You can deploy both dividers and keep your doggo in the back seat area and they cannot interfere with the driver.These are easy to remove and clean when not needed or you would like to clean the interior without barriers.Recommended based on quality, ease of use, and they are quite useful.In the event that experiences change or evolve, updates may be made to this review to address such developments.

Took a little of messing around to get this to fit just right to work in conjunction with our dog backseat cover but once in place, it holds up pretty good! Looks like crap but should keep the dogs safe and in the back seats.We set this up in a 2014 Tundra double cab. Tied it to the headrests without any issue but they do have a decent strain on them. The dogs don’t care for them at all but it does keep them at bay. Taking them off and setting everything to the side when we have extra passengers with us is the biggest pain as you have to do the whole set-up process all over again… and there really isn’t any place to put them in the truck other than in the bed. Which is outdoors in the elements. So, that is no fault really on their part, just we need to figure out a system to govern this culpability of being truck owners. Luckily, we don’t have many friends, just dogs, so this occurrence is rare! 😅In the end, depending on your practicality of your situation, or if you also have friends or not, this is a pretty good set up and I do recommend!

I have 2 large dogs (90lbs each) and the back of my SUV is their ‘travel den’—my dogs are calm and well-behaved in the car, BUT my younger dog will hop over the seats to forage for snacks if there are groceries or food items in the back seat. I’ve been looking for a barrier just to keep my younger dog from climbing over the second row to get to food in the car, and this one is perfect for what I need.It was easy to assemble and install, and the actual barrier itself is solid and not flimsy. I gave it 5 stars because for me personally it is a perfect solution, but I would caution buyers who have rambunctious or anxious dogs that the way this mounts to the vehicle is just 2 straps that go around the base of the headrest—and I don’t think it would hold up to anxious or excitable dogs that were actively trying to get through it. The straps on mine loosened (slowly but surely) as I purposely applied pressure to them, which tells me that a dog scrabbling or pulling at the barrier would likely eventually get through. If you have an escape artist that squeezes through seemingly impossible spaces, I would say this is not the barrier for you because it doesn’t reach to the roof and, again, pressure applied to the top would definitely pull it down. Overall, I’m pleased with it, and it works for what I need it to work for.
