I bought this terrarium as a test to see if I could suitably and inexpensively modify it for my rainforest mantises. I would need to build a new door and replace the metal lid. The variable glass and polycarbonate panels were ideal because I could easily drill or cut vents in the polycarbonate and mix and match with the glass to retain humidity as needed. The way the door was framed made it very easy to replace the glass with a screen door with a frame cut from 1/8″ ABS plastic. That way I was able to utilize all the orginal hardware and it didnt change the functioning of the door at all. I’ve completed the modifications and it is absolutely perfect. I loved the idea of being able to stack the terrariums as well. I keep 6-8 mantises at a time and was planning to buy another two today. It’s too bad the price has jumped from the completely reasonable $65 to a ridiculous $109 in the few days since I purchased it. Between that and the stacking rods not being available for quite some time, I likely won’t buy more. It’s a shame, it came out beautifully.

Design needs some tweaking
TLDR – It’s functional out of the box, but it needs some tweaking to make it a permanent residence for a critter. Price point feels a little too high for the size and some minor oversights in design.What I like: Easy to assemble, lightweight without feeling flimsy, rounded glass edges, optional insulation panels, clear instructions and included all parts + mini tools. Solid frame. Stackable. Bottom pan is solid and deep and will be awesome for preventing leaks and holding substrate. This arrived very well packaged, too.What I dislike: Gap at the top of the door. No handle or grip of any sort for the door; I guess the gaps come in handy here as it’s the only way to wiggle my finger in to open it. Technically, the door latch does work and keeps the door from swinging but it’s flimsy and cheap. The glass door rattles a lot where it meets the latch. It needs a bumper of some sort to act as a buffer between plastic and glass, or maybe a redesign of the locking mechanism. To get around this, I may add a safety baby lock to act as both a handle and secure lock. It came with some itty bitty 3M stickers that I thought would serve this very purpose, but they don’t fit. I’m not even sure why they’re in the assembly kit as it makes no mention of it. Lastly, while the glass sides do sit nicely in the bottom piece, I worry that moisture will become an issue. It’s an easy fix, and one that honestly needs to be done with many other brands. I plan on using some silicone around the inner edges where glass meets plastic to ensure a tight waterproof seal.The issues with the door are my biggest complaints. If this can be addressed in future models, it would easily be a 5-star enclosure.

First, I have to make this very clear: This is NOT FOR ADULT CRESTED GECKOS. It’s far too small. It’s perfect for hatchlings up to about 16 weeks. It’s far more suited to mourning geckos or tarantulas.I’m impressed! Aside from my Zen Habitats, this is the first reptile enclosure I’ve ordered online. For smaller enclosures like this, I typically buy used or grab one from our locally owned reptile shop, but I was curious and I needed an extra tank for a baby crestie. I’m glad I took the plunge!This arrived in excellent condition. The glass was pristine, and it was easy to tell which parts fit where. I didn’t need the instructions — just an extra set of hands. I was a bit skeptical of the grey plastic, but it doesn’t stand out any more than the black edging on most tanks. It’s actually a refreshing, more modern look that would fit in well with a minimalist aesthetic.In addition to the glass panels, the kit comes with frosted corrugated plastic walls if you prefer a different look. I think the plastic would be a great foundation for a custom foam background or an easy way to add privacy if you’re getting a bunch of these and stacking them. I have two magnetic Stroodies and a suction cup feeder ledge attached to the glass, and they all stay in place, even with the lizard honing his nighttime parkour skills.There’s a deep well at the bottom for substrate, a lock on the door and upgraded mesh on top. I have about 4″ of bioactive substrate in there. I didn’t use LECA clay balls or screen in the bottom — just dumped a bunch of mixed substrate in, added my usual CuC (4 species of isopods, buffalo beetles and micro roaches) and topped it with moss. A month later and the population is booming, and that’s with the gecko hunting his fill.I have a daylight fixture on top, but I haven’t yet had luck with growing plants in there. I’m not sure that enough UV gets through the thicker top mesh to support the plants I’ve been experimenting with — just something to think about if you’re planning to add live plants.All in all, I’d say this is a good little tank. It’s a bit pricey for my budget, but for the premium aesthetic, I think the price is fair.
