Thought this would be overhyped
I really thought this would be overhyped but it really works. I have a golden retriever who overheats fast and with this he can stay out way longer with us. Putting my hand under the jacket his fur is for sure cooler. It’s soft on the underside. Color is beautiful. Works so well. Easy to put on him. Personally I just dunk the whole thing in water and wring it out then put it on him then let it air dry unless it was really yucky water then I will wash it.

My two labs are black, in summer they get very hot. This vest was amazing keeping them cool…..I keep the vests wet in a bag until they need them….it will last about 45 min and we usually can find a stream to re-wet them. A life saver.

I had one of these previously when my older dog was a puppy but needed a larger one and also have another dog now who is a little over a year. The first one was a size small and obviously too small now. So since other than I don’t know if it was the smaller or the large one that actually gave the length. I tried the medium. The medium fits perfectly. But the vendor should note the actual length of the item. There is a card included with the item and the dimensions of medium is 27 to 32 in. XXS is 13 to 17, XS is 17 to 22, S is 22 to 27, L is 32 to 36, and XL is 36 to 42 to help others pick the appropriate size.

My 80 lb ridgeback goes to daycare with a mountain hike 3 days a week. She plays hard and she plays fast. She has to wear a vest that covers her body to protect her skin because there’s no or fluff or body fat to protect her from other dogs reaching out to play tag. Trying to find a lightweight jacket that is good for Montana summer days through the fall or winter is easy to find but the quality is hard to find. This jacket lasts by far the longest out of all the jackets I’ve purchased. I’m going back to buy my 6th one now. That being said, it sounds like the quality isn’t there but it is. The other dogs are grabbing at her with their teeth in playing tag or claws and tree branches whizzing by at 500 mph with her running through the mountain. The jacket keeps her much more protected and holds up to the abuse the longest. At this point I do need to invest in this company because of how much we’ve spent but money well worth spending!!! It is easy to put on and wash as well.

Ich habe die Kühlweste für meine Border-Collie-Hündin gekauft. Sie hat dunkles Fell und leidet schon bei Temperaturen über 25° unter der Hitze. Bei meiner Hündin reicht Gr. S perfekt aus, sie wiegt 19 kg und hat eine Rückenhöhe von 40 cm. Die Weste selbst ist sehr leicht. Trocken wiegt sie ca. 200 g und feucht ca. 500g. Oben ist eine Öffnung für das Geschirr. Ich habe selbst kein Ruffwear-Geschirr, aber eines von Hunter und das passt auch sehr gut. An der Seite kann man die Weste mit Plastikverschlüssen schließen. Sie liegt nicht ganz hautnah an, aber das ist auch gut so.Vor dem Gassi gehen befeuchte ich die Weste und obwohl die Weste feucht ist, bleibt das Fell darunter trocken. Meine Hündin zieht sie gern an und sie fühlt sich durch die Weste auch nicht gestört, da sie nicht in der Bewegungsfreiheit einschränkt und nicht schwer ist. Bei sehr heißen Temperaturen kann es sein, dass man die Weste noch mal unterwegs befeuchten muss.Nach Benutzung trocknet sie sehr gut und riecht auch nicht.Natürlich ist der hohe Preis schon etwas, das mich erst vom Kauf abgeschreckt hat. Andrerseits hatte ich vorher eine Kühlweste mit Gel, die meine Hündin aber nicht mochte, weil die Weste so schwer war. Und gehalten hat sie auch nicht lange. Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt an Ruffwear ist die neue Farbauswahl. Das Muster sieht schon etwas nach “Kittelschürze” aus. Da waren die alten Farben grau-orange und grau-türkis schon viel schicker. Aber letzten Endes ist das Design nur Nebensache, ihren Zweck erfüllt die Weste sehr gut und ich bin sehr zufrieden.

This is an excellent cooling vest & much better quality than other makes, but unfortunately it didn’t fit my dog properly & was too big with the chest belly strap far too long, which sagged even when fully tightened. My Border Collie has a neck size of size Medium but her chest is just into size Large. I did find the Ruffwear Swamp zip cooling vest fitted her much better. This however, is a very nice, superb quality cooling vest. I have the swamp neck gaiter too which is brilliant & wouldn’t be without. The swamp range really does hold the moisture superbly & are very lightweight. They are expensive, but worth every penny. My advice is buy the Swamp range products rather than any others. Invest wisely for your fur baby & buy the best.

The sizing chart was accurate for our dog. German Shepherds have a long body so it is a bit short but that is to be expected. The combination of white reflective material and evaporation really help to keep him cool given his dark fir. Tested during a heatwave of more than 36 degrees C and it allowed a longer stay at the park than in previous summers. Area under the coat felt cool while exposed fir was warm. We think his core temperature is lower because he recovers from the heat faster when we return home. Needs to be recharged with water frequently in direct sunlight.
