Veterinary Formula Flea and Tick Shampoo is formulated with Pyrethrum, a natural insecticide, to immediately kill and control fleas and ticks. Made with Aloe Vera and Lanolin, it soothes irritations from flea and tick bites, while also gently cleansing and exfoliating your pet’s skin and coat. Pyrethrum, made from a flower, is the active ingredient in our 16 oz. bottle of Flea and Tick Dog and Cat Shampoo. Pet parents should look for droppings/flea dirt in the dog’s coat, allergic dermatitis, excessive scratching, licking or biting at skin, hair loss, tapeworms, and pale gums from flea and tick bites. This Flea and Tick Shampoo is paraben and soap-free. It contains no harsh soaps or damaging detergents, only naturally derived cleansers that are pH balanced for your pet’s skin. For best results, follow the instructions on the product packaging carefully. Wear rubber gloves when applying Flea and Tick Shampoo for dogs and cats. When shampooing your dog, avoid eyes. Use a cloth or sponge to shampoo around your dog’s eyes. Thoroughly wet the entire coat with warm water and then apply enough shampoo to make a lather and work thoroughly into the coat. For maximum control, allow the lather to remain in contact with the skin for five to ten minutes before rinsing. Do not reapply the product for 7 days. Flea and Tick shampoo is safe for dogs, cats, ferrets, and horses 12 weeks and older. We know that your dogs and cats are more than just pets – they are part of the family – so Veterinary Formula Clinical Care develops premium products that pet parents can actually afford. Your pet will be free of fleas and ticks, smell great and have a soft, shiny, and lustrous coat – making you both happy and able to focus on more important things like treats, games, and snuggles.

Works from the very first use
I bought this shampoo because my cat and dog started scratching a lot, and I suspected they might have fleas. From the very first bath, I noticed a big difference. The product has a mild scent, lathers well, and rinses off easily. The best part is that it really kills fleas and ticks on contact, just as it promises. After using it, both pets were left with clean, soft fur and no irritation. I also like that it isn’t harsh and is specially formulated for pets, which gives me peace of mind.I would definitely buy it again. It works, lasts a long time, and is worth every penny. Highly recommended!

    Shampoo is wonderful !
I am not crazy about the Prevention spray on for the dog, and furnishings. My dog was losing hair from the spray . Might be too harsh for her. She has plenty of fur, but I don’t like little spaces of missing hair. Maybe I will try only spraying it on her bed, etc. The Shampoo is gentle, suds up well and will remove anything lingering. I give the shampoo an A+. This product does not have any smell.

Mild citrus smell, lathers great, effective on killing fleas and not the budget! My grail shampoo!
I’m almost embarrassed that I had to order this. I had a slight flea infestation thanks to “Le Dog”. In 30 years of dog & cat ownership I have never had to deal with fleas and ticks. Fast forward to 2023, I’m now living adjacent to a dense wooded area. Stupid me, I thought those expensive monthly chew tablets prescribed by the vet for fleas & ticks took care of just that, fleas and ticks. As they say, ‘it’s complicated’! As a pet owner, I feel like I’ve let them down. Believe it or not, I never saw a flea on my dog, it was found on the indoor cat that never goes outside! My dog is a dachshund/beagle mix so he has a smooth, very dense, tight double undercoat of brown black fur to hide in, but the cat… he has a fine coat of light ginger colored fur so it couldn’t hide and got caught ‘sneaking’ about.Long story short, after a quick call to the vet, all the pets needed capstar administered which would kill fleas immediately BUT not the eggs. Unfortunately, we are talking about giving reluctant 20lb male cats a pill they would rather not have. With one dog and 4 cats in tow we headed to the vet to have the ‘flea killer’ pill administered. Meanwhile, pest control came to bomb the house & spray the yard while on our little day trip to the vet. The next step was washing/sanitizing all beddings & linen and vacuuming the floors with the dog bath last. Since I was already familiar with the Veterinary Formula product line and it being paraben free and no skin reactions on the dog, I ordered their Flea & Tick shampoo. The 16oz bottle guarantees l’ll get more than a couple of baths out of it. I also needed to strike a balance of a reliable brand that was effective in killing fleas, was not harmful or irritate my dog’s sensitivities, and was affordable. This was it. I needed it to kill any adult stragglers, immature fleas or newly hatched fleas that the pill did not. My first “sniff” impression is the shampoo does NOT have a strong chemical odor, but more of a mild citrusy scent (better than what I was expecting). It does a great job of lathering up making it easy to work into the undercoat and reach any fleas living there. There was no skin irritation, burning, or allergy to using the shampoo and it left no residue. It felt more like a sudsy conditioner. I waited closer to 8 minutes before rinsing out the shampoo. That stuff is fantastic! Oh-kay, he didn’t smell as sweet as his oatmeal shampoo BUT… he had “salon soft” and silky fur! It’s actually better than the conditioner I have been using. As for fleas? I may have seen a spec or two in the bathtub. In all likelihood, the dog was used as a flea taxi into the house & cats. Up until now, the indoor cats were not on any flea prevention, but that has changed as well as getting flea combed. As they say, ‘where there is one, there is many’. While the shampoo was effective in killing & removing current fleas on Lucky Lou, it had to be used in conjunction with the other flea prevention treatments above to get ahead of the flea-eggs crazy life-cycle. A second flea bath was given 10 days out as a precaution. Did you know one flea can lay 50 eggs? Worse, one female flea in 60 days can leave you with 20,000 if not treated. -The constant spray, wash, vacuum, of carpet, bedding & linens and the once monthly flea oral & topical treatments now has house & pets “flea-free” for 82 days! I’m also pretty sure the cooler weather has helped to control the yard population as well as planting plenty of mint about. Overall, 5 stars! Neither dog nor cats have fleas! This is my grail of flea shampoo!

    Did not work.
If you’re looking for a product like this, I suggest using the natural based product instead. Using the one that has natural essential oils work the best for my dog and my situation. Killed all the fleas help the dogs skin and just was more effective than this product. To me this doesn’t mean that the product is not good. It just didn’t work for my dog. So if you’re looking for an alternative use Adams instead it’s all natural won’t hurt the animal no pesticides and no need to worry about contaminating yourself.

Hi five! Best of the best
High five, Mommy. This stuff works. If you follow the directions on the shampoo bottle, it will kill all of the fleas on the dog, and the flea eggs will be gone too. It is not designed to be a treatment to keep fleas off, so don’t expect that. But to kill the fleas and get rid of them, this is the best we found, and it has no fragrance so puppy dogs just smell like clean puppy dogs. This has been the worst year ever for fleas here in Tennessee. I also ordered the Adams flea spray for the bedding and floors and such. And in addition, of course, I washed bedding as quickly as I could end with washing the dogs. Two rounds of flea baths and spraying and washing, bedding, etc., and the flea problem is more under control than it has been all year. And this time I didn’t put any topical treatment on them after their baths. Used correctly, this is the best product I have found in years. Pip likes it too.

Don’t use on small pets or cats.
So, I’m scoring this a 5 star but if u read the reviews it’s very mixed. And all the bad reviews are bad, bad. Their babies are being burned and hair falling out. I took all this into consideration when making this purchase. It states vet formula. I looked up all the ingredients . And I absolutely do not recommend for little dogs. I have a frenchton, Hazel. She’s 26lbs at time of bath. That’s as little as I would go. I bought a second empty bottle and mixed half water and half shampoo. It did not let it sit on her. It lathered very well even diluted. Citrus kind of smell. I got her really good, and quickly rinsed her, very well. I did not let it sit on her. She was very soft after. I did blow dry her. Nothing came off her but I knew it wasn’t. She’s been having hives and being itchy. I pay for that expensive monthly pill her vet wanted to try first. Sometimes, it helps with allergies in dogs. But it didn’t. Was just making sure it wasn’t fleas. I hadn’t seen any on her. But u never know. So back to the vet we go.

Helpful for quick spot treatment 🐶
This spray is easy to apply and works well for quick flea and tick prevention. I like using it before walks or outdoor time. It dries fairly fast.Small downside: The smell is a little strong at first.Overall does the job.
