Installation Advice
The barrier fit very well into my 2011 Subaru. I used velcro strips (comes in a roll) to hold it to the headrest supports, but a thin rope would also work. The only problem was that the U-Shaped extensions slide too easily and our dog might push them into the side window, or slide them in so he could escape.I solved this problem by drilling 4 small holes into the stationary tube and then into the sliding bars, followed by very small sheet metal screws to prevent them from sliding. Electrical tape would also work by wrapping it around the place where the U extensions slide into the black stationary tube. The barrier is well made and does not rattle on the road, and is easily removed when you don’t need it.

Works Well For Us
This divider isn’t the strongest or studiest of dividers but it did exactly what I wanted it to, which was to keep my dog from coming over the back of the seat. It is adjustable so it fit into the space pretty well, but due to the construction and the materials of the ceiling of the car it really can’t be rock solid. Maybe in a different car it might but mostly the divider acts as a deterrent. If your dog is super strong or determined he may be able to knock it around some and I would suggest using a crate instead for safety. Our 10 month old lab puppy didn’t really challenge it much so we were lucky. We used this on a trip which gave us and the dog more room as I didn’t have to crate him. He had more head room and we had extra space to pack in the back with him. It worked perfectly for that. The horizontal bars can be moved up and down and the metal ends extend out. All can be tightened down to be secure. The verticle upright bars extend and can be tightened between the header and floor and that is what holds all of it in place.

May work is you DON’T have GSD, Difficult to tighten.
UPDATE #2::So I went ahead and kept it, for about a week. When I wrote the first update, I thought I was going to be mailing it back immediately, but I thought I would hold onto it just to see really if it could hold its tension. I can’t. Again like I said, in order to tighten this you must simultaneously push the top bar up at the same time as you hold the bottom or down and towards the bottom service so you’re basically pushing up and down at the same time and then you have to release one point in order to screw the plastic screw, which I supposed to be easier with two people, but I’m usually by myself. Even though I got the tension to get pretty tight by sitting on the backseat to adjust the tension bars, they loosened in 3 days. Best way I can describe this poorly designed item is you would think that like a tension rod, like what you use for a curtain, you can adjust it and there would be some sort of spring that kept it in place when you released it, if that makes sense, but there’s not how this item works… think about trying to adjust a curtain tension rod on both sides of a window with your brute strength and then somehow released one of your arms to screw a point in the middle to keep that tension going, it simply wouldn’t work as it doesn’t with this. and imagine this, with the curtain tension rod you’re just hanging curtain, but the purpose of this, is to keep big 80 pound German Shepherd from jumping in the front seat. Absolutely, not gonna work.UPDATE::OK, in my first review I said I’d wait two weeks. But I’m writing it now. I’ve only had this in my jeep patriot, for an hour, sitting out here at the VA. While I’m sitting out here waiting for my husband in my jeep, my German Shepherd is hearing a siren. So she sticks her head in between the slats, to communicate that to me she wants to whine a little bit and talk. It wasn’t forceful, she just barely leaned into it and the whole thing just came down. I went back there put it all back together, try to tighten it as much as I can. But I’m never going to get this thing tighten up. It’s a complete design flaw, you can’t clamp it down for the final tightening to hold it into place. As I’ve said, I’ve only had this up for one hour. I am going to package it right back up and send it back. Don’t buy this unless you have a very enfeebled dog, or a dog that’s just gonna lay back there and not even try to get over and into the seats in front. It’s very difficult to tightened.Just put this in my Jeep Patriot. Only have had it one day. have GSDs. Which means they are extremely intelligent and can be very driven when they put their minds to something. I’m sure it will all be fine for female GSD #2 as she is mellow. Not sure for female #1- First thing, it’s pretty easy to put together. That being said, it is not easy to tighten. The way to tighten it, is very clumsy, not user-friendly at all. As you have to pull up on the polls to push it up against the roof simultaneously while keeping the bottom part firmly planted. It is only your sheer strength that will allow you to simultaneously do that. It’s a poor design. There should be a clamp that we can push down for the final tightening. But there isn’t. It’s all up to us to hold it in place, tightened, in place at the same time screwing it into place. It may be easier with two people but it’s still awkward. The real test is when I leave her in the car while I go to the grocery store. Or any place for that matter. It’ll probably work with most other breeds. But if you have a German Shepherd, or a border collie. This may not work. I will update this in the future to share my experience of what happens when I leave her in the car alone. She loves to jump seats. Additionally, I think if the dog was very large, like a mastiff. They could easily just bump into it and knock it down if it wasn’t absolutely tight. Again the very issue I’m already having day one. At the time of writing this review, my German Shepherd has not pushed against it. She doesn’t know if it’ll move or not. But once she finds out that she can move even a nano inch. She will definitely move it out-of-the-way and jump the seats.Update this in a couple of weeks.

Dog proof and totally worth it!
Dog hates it, I LOVE it! 😂Definitely need two people to install so it’s tight. Super easy to put together. Keeps my boy safe and is safe with him not climbing on everyone while driving. Works great, would recommend to anyone! He’s still mad about this thing

Doesn’t work for a caravan.
I wanted to use this behind the driver’s & passenger’s seats, because I have a 100+ pound, 12 month old lab puppy who has not learned to stay in the back like the older dogs.1. My mistake, I have bucket seats; this only works with bench seats. I was brain dead on that one, but I have one of those seat organizers that goes all the way across and will correct the problem there.2. The sliding side adjustments do not lock in place so as previously mentioned, have your complementary colored roll of duct tape.3. The cupped feet don’t fit right, also needs to be duct taped to secure.4. The support legs are hollow metal, like tent posts. I wish they were sturdier, because I have this maxed out on height.I stuck blocks under the legs, until I buy the extensions. (The minivan has different heights to the ceiling with the center console and a slanted ceiling, so it’s a matter of measuring EXACTLY where the legs go)5. I have a 100+ pound lab who will (soon) get his head stuck trying to fit through the bars, but he’s smart and some specific training for this problem should prevent it. I can see this being a problem for some owners.6. If you want to recline your seat this won’t work! All in all I will get it to work in my minivan with some Yankee ingenuity. But I think for SUV / wagon bench seat owners – this, with a roll of duct tape is worth the small investment to keep you concentrating on the road, and the animals safe in back.

Seems to be a solid build but really needs a better mechanism (eg. screw extension) to extend and tighten the upright bars. Unless super tight, floor movement can cause it to fall over. (Tesla model X)

Easy to install, and easy to remove quickly unlike other barriers that attach to headrests. Secure for both german shepherd and a pittie mix dogs 🐕 👌

Use in my hatchback to keep my very furry mutt from losing hair all over the rest of the car. Has fallen downa few times however while going over big bumps on the road, because there is a tilt in the ceiling where it has to sit. easy to install.
