Game changer and Finger Saver!
If you give pills regularly to your cat, this is a must-have. First, I put all the meds for my elderly cat into a size 0 gel capsule, and affix it to the pill shooter, with the sharp rim of the gel capsule facing upward – hope that made sense, else, please see attached video. Then I dip the end of the gel cap into edible oil (olive oil or salmon oil) which I store in a teeny container (a bottle cap inside a lidded take-out sauce container). This way, I am sure the pill will glide down the cat’s throat smoothly with little or no risk of abrasions to any delicate tissue. I prefer to use oil over catfood gravy or baby food, because the gel cap begins to soften and disintegrate upon contact with a water-based medium. To affix the gel cap to the pill shooter:When the silicone tip is new it holds the gel capsule firmly without problems. But after several uses, it wasn’t doing such a good job. I found that if I pumped the gel cap in and out of the provided silicone tip rapidly a few times, then gave the gel cap a quick twist, it pushes the air out of the pill shooter and the silicone tip is better able to grab the gel cap. Because size 0 is a large size capsule, I don’t push the tip all the way up the plastic neck so that more of the silicone is available to grab the pill.To administer pill to cat:- Step1: I hold the cat’s head from behind with my left hand and tilt it slightly upward.- Step2: Using the middle finger and the thumb of the same hand I gently pry open his mouth a tiny bit. This makes the cat open his mouth automatically.- Step3: I immediately pop in the pill shooter with my right hand, deep into the mouth directed at his throat, squeeze the trigger,- Step4: then close his mouth with my left hand, which by the way, is holding his head still through the whole process.Timing is everything! After a few failed attempts I can now get the pill straight into his throat every time without giving him the opportunity to spit it out. I typically don’t need Step 4 anymore. Before I found this pill shooter, I cannot tell you how many times he sank razor-sharp teeth into my fingers. I dreaded pill time as much as the cat did! The cat actually prefers this to having my fat fingers fumbling around inside his mouth trying to hold the gel cap in the right orientation as well as try to deliver it to his throat.Bonus: Because the experience is less unpleasant, the cat doesn’t hate pill time anymore. Besides, how cute and ergonomic is the dino motif handle design?! HA! 🙂

Great for the dog who finds every pill you’ve ever tried hiding in a treat
Works great! My dog is a pro when it comes to finding pills hidden in treats, etc. This is the only way I’ve found that gets her to take her pills, and it’s pretty quick and easy.

BEWARE SWALLOW HAZARD
I loved it at first, found it easier to use than the standard one, it worked great for us for nightly pillings got like 6 months.BUT last week when pilling my cat the whole rubber flange on the end came off in her mouth and she swallowed it!! Happy ending and she’s safe but it was 4 hours and $1500 at the urgent care vet to get it removed. I would not consider this safe for use without some kind of adjustment like gluing the flange on so it can’t possibly fall off and get swallowed.

Finally, a good one that works for tiny pills
This pill shooter has a nice wide pushing post that doesn’t leave gaps between the post and the silicon tip. Every other one I have tried has a very narrow pushing post that slips *around* the pill and doesn’t eject it.We have to dose an elderly cat twice per day with tiny thyroid pills and the other pill shooters were just not working due to the above-described problem. This dino shooter works perfectly. No more pill getting left behind in the tip due to the narrow post sliding around it. And much less stress on this old lady cat since we get the pill in on the first try. I will probably purchase some backups of this one just in case.

Did work a few times, cat outsmarted me. Not the product’s fault.
This worked great the first time I used it. Was a struggle the second time and failed on the third. BUT, this is not due to the product. My cat was simply too smart. She knew I had to get it far back and fought me tooth and nail. i’m back to doing it by hand, but I fail at times. I think for some cats and dogs this would be really helpful. I’m even considering giving it another try as she may have forgotten how she bested me. High quality.

Good idea but it didn’t work
Good idea but it didn’t work. If you have a pet that doesn’t like to take a pill this may be an option for you but it didn’t work for us. Our senior cat kept his jaws clenched so no matter what we did it wasn’t happening. Our only alternative is to crush up the pill and hide it in his food.

Best pill delivery solution for cats I’ve used yet.
This is a great product. The cheap plastic syringe types are a pain to use.Pill pockets work well till a cat bites a pill and then won’t touch them again. This is easy to use on a cat and I can quickly give them their medication fast enough that they don’t seem to struggle at pill time.

Lifesaver
It’s impossible to give my cat medicine. I usually have to crush it up, mix it with water, and shoot it into his mouth, but his new pills are capsules so that trick doesn’t work anymore. This thing definitely takes some practice but I’d say I got the hang of it by our third dose. I get behind him, hold his paws back with a towel, get in there as fast as I can with this thing, then hold his mouth shut.Works like a charm, you just have to find the rhythm with your pet.The faster you can get it in there without them noticing what’s happening, the higher success rate. If they clock it, you’ve already lost.
