Little dog booties – or really, socks. They are simple little cotton booties made out of a soft cotton, almost paper like fabric. This is not something that’s going to protect your puppy’s feet from hot surfaces or from sharp things. They are for keeping your dogs paws clean while on a walk. They fasten with a simple strip of stick to itself medical tape that will work four or five times in a row, but will eventually lose the stick. They are not meant to be a fashion statement, and have some dangling threads, but on the other paw are well sewn and of an even size and make.I had ordered these for my cat, hoping that perhaps she would not be able to get her claws through them and I could groom her without bleeding. That did not fly, but I will comment that it’s a good size for a larger cat paw or smaller dog. I have tuxedos that run between 12 and 15 pounds. They are larger than many very small dogs and about the size of a good size Chihuahua or a Maltese. Maybe even a little bigger. These booties fit them well, and I was able to get one on the milder tempered kitty without difficulty. Just be sure not to fasten it too tightly. That’s easy to do with this type of tape, but if you are careful you can get an exact fit.They are disposable. Just keep that in mind when you order, that they are disposable.

Hit or Miss…
As someone who lives in Florida, I am always concerned about hot sidewalks especially during the summer. Although I mostly walk my pups during the cooler parts of the day, there are times when nature calls during less than ideal hours. When I came across this product I was eager to try it in hopes that it would be a great solution for those times.DAY ONE/PUP ONE: I have two small dogs and decided to test the paw protectors on my pup Max. For size reference, Max is a 15 lb Shih Tzu/Maltese mix and the size S fit perfectly. The protectors come in individual packets of 4 which I found convenient. The material is soft and there are no sharp edges or seams. The little socks fit easily over paws and are secured with a self adhesive strap that is similar to self adhering bandages. My dog was a little weirded out initially but after praise and treats he seemed to forget he was wearing them. We tested them out on our evening walk. Max walked on the grass and sidewalk. He did his business and back kicked the dirt to cover it up. Throughout all of this the paw protectors remained on his paws and didn’t shred or rip. I’ve attached a photo showing the condition of the socks after our walk. We did manage to get some grass and seed pods stuck to them but they remained intact. We made it back home and when I removed the protectors his paws were nice and clean. I was very pleased with the results on our initial trial run.DAY TWO/PUP TWO: I decided to try the paw protectors on my second dog Dakota. Dakota is a medium chiweenie mix and she is short haired. Her paws are thinner than Max’s and I found the paw protectors to fit as well. However, because her paws are thinner and she has less fur to offer resistance, I found the socks to slip off more easily and needed multiple adjustments to secure them tightly. I took her outside to the same areas I took Max and under the same conditions. She barked and lunged at a UPS truck and lo and behold the first sock popped off. She did her business and back pedaled the dirt and the second one slipped off. By the time we got back home only one sock remained on her paw. Interestingly, I also put the socks on Max during this walk and he too lost one this time.I give this product 3 stars for our mixed results. I think success will depend on how well the socks fit on your particular breed of dog as well as how active and rough they are on their walks. I think these are a great little product when they work and offer your pups some protection for paws outdoors. I also think these would be great indoors for dogs who like to chew on their paws and also for dogs who need their paws covered for medical reasons. I also did not test these covers under wet conditions so I cannot attest to their performance in rain or their level of water resistance.
